Whole 30 / keto
Corn dog

Ingredients:

"Breading":

  • 1/4 Cup Almond flour

  • 1 Tbsp Coconut flour

  • 1/4 Tsp Salt

  • 1 Large Egg White

Hot dog:

  • 1 Applegate naturals uncured beef hot dog.

(if you're not on whole 30, any dog may work)

Coconut oil for frying.
(The amount you need will vary with your pot size.)

Anchor 1

Step 1:

Mix together the 1/4 cup almond flour, 1 Tbsp coconut flour,
1/4 Tsp salt and 1 large egg white.

Why just the egg white?  The egg is just meant to hold things together a bit better, using the yolk will make the dough a bit more cake like.

Step 2:

Start covering the hot dog with the dough.  I like to start with a ball in the center area and then work it towards the ends by pressing it into an even base.

Step 3:

Press your dough till your dog is evenly coated.  It can be a bit tricky but it's totally doable.  If you've got a little extra dough, that's okay too.  You can use it to fry in your oil as a test run before tossing the dog in.

Step 4:

Toss your dog into your hot coconut oil.  Looking for a medium-high heat.  If your coconut oil is smoking, you've got it waaay to hot.  Let it fry while checking to make sure it's not cooking too quickly or burning up.

Step 5:

Use some tongs to remove your freshly fried hot dog once it reaches the desired golden brown.  Place it on some paper towels to cool and drip any excess oil.

Step 6:

Enjoy!
